Squarely in the middle of an estimated 18 month process to integrate (or close) 1,900 <strong>Rite Aid <\/strong>stores into the <strong>Walgreens<\/strong> ecosystem, deals still need to get done, and innovation continues.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, with an eye on Amazon, Walgreens announced that it has partnered with Fed-Ex to offer <em>nationwide <\/em>next-day prescription delivery (at $4.99). In addition, same day delivery is now available in select markets under the program \u2013 Chicago, Dallas, and New York City in addition to a host of Florida markets, including Gainesville, Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Tampa. And the number of same-day markets is expected to grow in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Also announced was an expansion of a partnership with <strong>Kroger <\/strong>to expand the Kroger Express store-within-a-store concept to another dozen Walgreens in Northern Kentucky, which will bring the total size of the trial to 25 Walgreens in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Keeping up with change within the industry can be difficult.
