Plans call for the upscale Kings and Balducci\u2019s grocery stores to retain their banners and become part of Albertsons\u2019 Mid-Atlantic division.<\/p>\n

\u2022<\/span>\u00a0C & S Wholesale Grocers Inc.<\/strong> has appointed Bob Palmer as CEO, succeeding Michael A. Duffy in the role.<\/p>\n

\u2022<\/span>\u00a0Earth Fare Healthy Supermarkets<\/strong> has been reopening some store locations. So far 13 stores have opened in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Virginia and Michigan.<\/p>\n

\u2022<\/span>\u00a0Dollar General Corp.<\/strong> is launching a new retail concept aimed at a more upscale shopper. The new format, called Popshelf, will feature a non-consumable merchandise mix that includes seasonal and home d\u00e9cor, health and beauty essentials, cleaning supplies, party goods, crafts and more. Nearly 95% of the items will be priced at $5 or less. Stores will average about 9,000 sq. ft. The retailer expects to open approximately 30 locations in various markets by the end of next year.<\/p>\n
