The company laid off 600 workers from its corporate headquarters, which equaled 13% to 14% of the headquarters staff and did not include any senior executives. In addition, JCPenney will close its customer call center in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Pittsburgh<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">PA<\/st1:state><\/st1:place> on July 1. It plans nine new stores in 2013.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b>Real Estate:<\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Aeropostale Inc. <\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">plans to open 18 and close ten Aeropostale stores, open 30 P.S. from Aeropostale stores, and has five store remodels slated for 2012.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Alice + Olivia LLC <\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">will open a 2,000 sq. ft. store at <st1:address w:st=\"on\"><st1:street w:st=\"on\">431 W. 14th St.<\/st1:street> <st1:city w:st=\"on\">New York<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">NY<\/st1:state><\/st1:address>. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Ann Taylor<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> is closing its store at CityPlace in downtown <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">West Palm Beach<\/st1:city>,  <st1:state w:st=\"on\">FL.<\/st1:state><\/st1:place><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Casual Male Retail Group Inc.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> plans to continue the expansion of its DestinationXL (DXL) concept, with 150 to 175 locations expected to open by the end of fiscal 2015. In fiscal 2012, the company plans to open 35 new DXL stores, and expects to close approximately 70 of its Casual MaleXL and two Rochester Clothing stores.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Charming Shoppes Inc.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> plans to close 90 to 105 underperforming stores in 2012 including 35 to 40 Fashion Bug stores, 35 to 40 of its Catherines Plus Size, and 20 to 25 Lane Bryant stores. The company also said that it will open approximately 20 new stores including 12 Lane Bryant and eight outlet locations, relocate 25 mall locations to lifestyle and power centers, and update 40 stores.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Dick&#8217;s Sporting Goods<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> has opened a new store in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Albuquerque<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">NM<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>. Located at Cottonwood Commons, this is the first Dick&#8217;s Sporting Goods location in <st1:state w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>.<b><\/b>The company announced 40 new stores are slated to open this year.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Dillard\u2019s<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> announced it will close its full-line department store in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Hutchinson<\/st1:city>,  <st1:state w:st=\"on\">KS<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">DSW Inc.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> announced the opening of a new store at The Shoppes at <st1:city w:st=\"on\">Grand Prairie<\/st1:city>in <st1:city w:st=\"on\">Peoria<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">IL<\/st1:state>, a new store in <st1:city w:st=\"on\">Fargo<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">ND<\/st1:state>, and the relocation and grand reopening of its <st1:street w:st=\"on\"><st1:address w:st=\"on\">Union Square<\/st1:address><\/st1:street> location in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">San Francisco<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">CA<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>. \u00a0The company plans to open 35 to 40 new stores in 2012. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Eastern Mountain Sports Inc.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> plans to open three new stores over the course of the next three monthsin <st1:state w:st=\"on\">Connecticut<\/st1:state>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">Maine<\/st1:state> and <st1:state w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">New   Jersey<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>. An existing location at the Plaza at Buckland Hills in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Manchester<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">CT<\/st1:state><\/st1:place> will move into a new, 18,831 sq. ft. space in April. A 20,442 sq. ft. store will open in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">South Portland<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">ME<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>in May. Crew Group Inc.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> plans to open 42 stores in fiscal 2012; 16 J. Crew retail stores, 10 factory stores, one crewcuts store and 15 Madewell stores. The company also announced plans to close one Madewell and one J. Crew location. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Joe\u2019s Jeans Inc.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> announced the opening of its 23<sup>rd<\/sup> retail store located in the Aventura Mall in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Aventura<\/st1:city>,  <st1:state w:st=\"on\">FL.<\/st1:state><\/st1:place> The approximately 1,500 sq. ft. boutique will open on Friday, April 20<sup>th<\/sup>.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Kohl\u2019s<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> announced<br \/>\nit will remodel approximately 50 stores this year.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Lord &#038; Taylor<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> plans to return to <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Boca Raton<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">FL<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>by opening a new store after closing up shop almost nine years ago. The 80,000 sq. ft. store is likely to open in the fall. The company opened a new store in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Yonkers<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">NY<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>. The 80,000-sq.-ft. store is located in <st1:place w:st=\"on\">Westchester<\/st1:place>\u2019s Ridge Hill.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><st1:city w:st=\"on\"><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Marshalls<\/span><\/b><\/st1:city><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> <\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">opened six new stores in <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\">Canada<\/st1:country-region> in <st1:city w:st=\"on\">Oshawa<\/st1:city>, <st1:city w:st=\"on\">Hamilton<\/st1:city>, <st1:city w:st=\"on\">Burlington<\/st1:city>, <st1:city w:st=\"on\">Kitchener<\/st1:city>, <st1:city w:st=\"on\">Barrie<\/st1:city>and <st1:city w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Ottawa<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> in March.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Neiman Marcus<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> will close its only Last Call by store in <st1:placename w:st=\"on\">San  Diego<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st=\"on\">County<\/st1:placetype>, at Las Americas Premium Outlets in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">San Ysidro<\/st1:city>,  <st1:state w:st=\"on\">CA<\/st1:state><\/st1:place> in mid-April. A new 85,000 sq. ft., three-level Neiman Marcus store opened in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Walnut Creek<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">CA<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">New York &#038; Co. Inc.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> expects to open 12 new stores, including 11 outlet locations and plans to remodel four existing locations and close two stores, ending the first quarter of fiscal year 2012 with 542 stores, including 37 outlet stores. By the end of fiscal 2012, the company expects to operate 41 to 46 outlet stores. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Rue 21<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> plans to open 120 stores in fiscal 2012. The company plans to convert 30 stores in fiscal 2012 into its larger rue21 etc! layout.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Sears Holdings Corp.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> plans to shutter 53 specialty stores in the first half of 2012. The store closures will include 43 of the retailer\u2019s smaller-format hometown dealer stores and 10 Sears Hardware stores. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Shoe Carnival<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> reported 30 new stores in the works for 2012, about a third of them new-market debuts in Dallas\/Fort Worth and <st1:place w:st=\"on\">Puerto Rico<\/st1:place>. Ten stores are slated for relocation and five will be closed.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. <\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">announced it has signed a lease for the 122,500 square foot facility located in the Pine Ridge Mall, <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Pocatello<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">ID.<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>The company will initially remodel and operate a store solely on the lower level of this facility in approximately 61,300 square feet. Remodeling of the site is expected to begin in April 2012 and be completed by the end of October 2012, at which time the company will open a new Herberger\u2019s store. The new location will be the first store in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:state w:st=\"on\">Idaho<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>for the company.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">The Limited<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> opened a new, 4,300 sq. ft. store in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Roseville<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">CA<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>. The opening is part of the company\u2019s <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:state w:st=\"on\">California<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>expansion plan, with four other Limited stores slated to open across the state by year-end. The other Limited stores will open in <st1:city w:st=\"on\">Fresno<\/st1:city>, <st1:city w:st=\"on\">Santa Ana<\/st1:city>, <st1:city w:st=\"on\">San Diego<\/st1:city>and <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Westminster<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">CA<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">True Religion Brand Jeans<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> is opening at Crabtree Valley Mall in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Raleigh<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">NC<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>. The new store is expected to be open by the end of June or early July.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">UNIQLO Co. Ltd.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> will open a flagship store in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">San   Francisco<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> in fall 2012. The 29,000 sq. ft. store will be located near <st1:street w:st=\"on\"><st1:address w:st=\"on\">Union Square<\/st1:address><\/st1:street>at <st1:street w:st=\"on\"><st1:address w:st=\"on\">111 Powell St<\/st1:address><\/st1:street>. The store is the retailer\u2019s first location outside of <st1:state w:st=\"on\">New  York<\/st1:state> and is part of a larger expansion plan for the <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">U.S.<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> market. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">Urban Outfitters<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\"> plans to open 55 to 60 new stores this fiscal year, with 13 of those slated to open in the first quarter.
