Inc<\/strong> announced that Jon Bratta has been named VP of Marketing. <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kroger<\/strong> announced that Mike Ellis, Kroger&#8217;s President and COO, has retired.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Martin\u2019s Super Markets<\/strong> named Doug Gaerte Director of Store Operations and Amy Simeri McClellan VP of Sales and\u00a0Marketing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wegmans<\/strong> announced that Anne Meath has become the VP of Organizational Development and Kathleen Fitzgerald has been named VP of Human Resources for the company\u2019s Corporate, Distribution, and Manufacturing Division.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The United Family<\/strong> hired Gaston Luna as Director of Bakery.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Industry Insight<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Food City <\/strong>is buying 29 <strong>Bi-Lo<\/strong> stores. With the purchase, Food City will enter the Georgia market.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kroger<\/strong> launched a new natural and organic e-commerce website: KingSoopers.com\/LiveNaturally. The company also announced that it plans to divide its current Texas-based Southwest Division into two separate divisions operating out of Dallas and Houston.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Price Chopper<\/strong> will not sell\u00a0cigarettes at its new Market 32 supermarkets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RaceWay<\/strong> is selling 30 of its convenience stores with gasoline.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Financial<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A&amp;P <\/strong>filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. It has already lined up buyers for 120 of its 296 stores.<strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>Its ACME banner will acquire 76 stores and<strong> <\/strong>Stop &amp; Shop will be acquiring 25 of these stores.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gas-Mart USA<\/strong> filed for bankruptcy.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Mergers and Acquisitions<\/strong><\/span><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>CrossAmerica<\/strong> has agreed to purchase the 41 company-operated One Stop convenience store network from <strong>CST Brands<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Delhaize<\/strong> and <strong>Ahold<\/strong> have entered into an agreement to merge, creating a base of more than 6,500 stores.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Energy Transfer Partners LP<\/strong> announced that it will sell its convenience-stores business to <strong>Sunoco LP<\/strong>, in a transaction valued at $1.94 billion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fuel USA LLC<\/strong> has acquired all of the assets of Workman Oil Co., this includes 52 convenience stores primarily under the trade name Apple Market.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lamb\u2019s Markets<\/strong>, including the Nature\u2019s Choice Market, has been purchased by <strong>Bales Marketplace<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Southeastern Grocers <\/strong>will sell 29 BI-LO stores to <strong>K-VA-T Food Stores<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>Real Estate<\/strong><\/span><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>7-Eleven Stores of Oklahoma <\/strong>has begun adding new larger stores with a kitchen.\u00a0 The first store of this format opened mid-July and the company is planning on adding as many as 15 stores with a similar format.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aldi<\/strong> will open locations in Alexandria, VA, and Milwaukee, MN; and is reopening 30 of the 66 former Bottom Dollar stores in Philadelphia area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Costco <\/strong>will open a location in La Vista, NE.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CST Brands Inc<\/strong> plans to open 5 new Corner Store prototype stores in Texas this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Earth Fare\u00a0Inc.<\/strong> opened a 24,000 sq.-ft. store in Atlanta, GA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fresh Thyme Farmers Market<\/strong> will open locations at: 901 E. Big Beaver Road, Troy, MI; 2025 S. Rochester Road Rochester Hills, MI; 15480 Sheldon Road, Northville, MI; and 2 new Indiana stores in Carmel and Westfield.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fareway Stores<\/strong> will open a location in Johnston, IA.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Foodtown<\/strong> on Route 33 in Freehold, NJ,\u00a0has closed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Foodland <\/strong>will open a 47,395 sq.-ft. flagship store in Honolulu in 2016.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Giant Food Stores<\/strong>\u00a0will open a location in Odenton, MD.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grocery Outlet<\/strong> opened a store on Lincoln Way East in Chambersburg, PA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hornbacher\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0opened a store at 950 40<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Ave South, Moorhead, MN.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Loblaw <\/strong>announced that it plans to close 52 unprofitable stores over the next year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lowes Foods<\/strong> will open a location in Greer, SC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Food Stores Co-operative<\/strong> announced that it will debut a new banner, Windsor Farms Market later this month in Brooklyn, NY.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Kroger Co.<\/strong> announced that its Smith&#8217;s Food &amp; Drug Stores division will open 3 new fuel centers in southern Nevada in the second half of 2015.\u00a0The company will also open a location in Madison, AL.<\/p>\n<p><strong>H Mart<\/strong> is opening a 45,436 sq. &#8211; ft. store in Raleigh, NC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Market Basket<\/strong> will open stores in Plymouth, MA, and Rochester, NH.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Market Street <\/strong>opened a new\u00a0store at 4706 North Midkiff Road in Midland, TX.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Native Sun<\/strong>\u00a0plans to open its Jacksonville, FL, location on September 4.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage<\/strong> is opening a new store in Scottsdale, AZ.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New Seasons Market<\/strong> will open a location in Mercer Island, WA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Piggly Wiggly<\/strong> will open a location in Spanish Fort, AL.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Publix<\/strong> will open a location in Muscle Shoals, AL.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Raley\u2019s<\/strong> will be closing 3 stores, one in Sacramento, CA; one in San Jose, CA; and one in Newark, CA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reasor\u2019s<\/strong> announced that it will open a 50,000 sq.-ft. store in Tulsa, OK, on August 5.<strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Roundy\u2019s<\/strong> will open a 90,000 sq.-ft. store at 2323 Capital Drive, Chicago, IL.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Save-A-Lot<\/strong> opened a store at 511 E Iron Ave, Salina, KS.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Save Mart<\/strong> opened a Lucky California location in Daly City, CA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Seafood City<\/strong> will open a store at 5033 N.
