With the West Oahu store, the chain has a presence in all 50 states.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>Back of the House, Inc. <\/strong>the San Francisco group behind <strong>Super Duper Burgers<\/strong> (10) and seven additional concepts is readying <strong>The Bird <\/strong>a fast-casual organic fried chicken concept.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>The Big Salad,<\/strong> a small Michigan-based concept, opened in Houston, the first of two planned Texas locations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>The Cheesecake Factory <\/strong>is set to open its first NYC branch at the end of October in a Queens mall.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>Cowboy Chicken <\/strong>(currently 21 units) will open its first locations in Georgia (Atlanta) and Oklahoma (Oklahoma City) by the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>Dig Inn, <\/strong>a 12-unit New York-based fast-casual serving nutritious, local fare, plans to open a half-dozen new restaurants in New York and Boston in the first half of 2017.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>Dunkin\u2019 Donuts<\/strong> partnered with new franchisee Elias Saman in plans to open 15 new locations in the Minneapolis-St. Paul South metro area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>El Meson Sandwiches, <\/strong>the Puerto Rican mainstay with two new Orlando stores, is readying a third Orlando location. Plans call for opening two additional company stores followed by the possibility of franchising the concept on the mainland in 2018.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>Fresh Brothers,<\/strong> a 15-unit California pizza chain, will add 3 stores in Southern California this year and 8 to 10 units in 2017 on the heels of significant capital investment by Nolan Capital Inc.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>Friendly\u2019s <\/strong>and its franchisees have opened four restaurants this year with and additional opening planned for New Hampshire before the year\u2019s end. These new stores mark Friendly\u2019s first expansion in almost a decade. The company plans on opening at least four new stores in 2017.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>Goodfellas Pizzeria, <\/strong>a Lexington, KY-based casual concept with four locations (including one in Cincinnati) will open restaurants in Lexington (the third for the city) and Indianapolis before the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>Hot Harry&#8217;s Fresh Burritos <\/strong>opened location number seven and its first in Connecticut (New Britain).<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>Kona Grill<\/strong> opened its first Hawaii restaurant in Waikiki\u2019s International Market Place. Another opening is set for October \u2013 Kona Grill\u2019s first Alabama location.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>Mod Pizza<\/strong> will open an additional 40 to 50 new stores systemwide and open for the first time in Kansas and Ohio by the end of the year, bringing its total store count to more than 190. In other news, the company signed 11 new leases in the Houston market.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>The Organic Coup,<\/strong> a four-unit San Francisco Bay Area organic fried chicken concept has three additional stores planned for the area expected to come online in short order.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>Panda Restaurant Group<\/strong> opened the first mainland US location of <strong>Uncle Tetsu<\/strong> (a Japanese bakery concept) in Arcadia, CA following its early 2016 opening of a store in Hawaii. The company will serve as master US franchisee for the 80-unit international chain.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>Planet Hollywood <\/strong>will reopen its Disney Springs location this fall after a $25 million renovation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>Real Mex<\/strong> opened a new Chevys in Northridge, CA \u2013 its first new store (under any banner) in nine years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>Salad and Go,<\/strong> a six-unit drive-thru and walk-up concept in Arizona, plans to open two more Arizona stores by the end of the year and nine total through 2017 before expanding into neighboring Texas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>The Shipyard Brewing Company <\/strong>opened its sixth <strong>Sea Dog Brewing Co.<\/strong> restaurant, the first in New Hampshire. It will be the third Florida location for the concept.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>Southeast Restaurant Group, <\/strong>a 23-unit <strong>TGI Friday\u2019s<\/strong> franchisee, acquired 8 <strong>Taco Bell<\/strong> stores in New Orleans, Covington, Mandeville and Slidell, LA from <strong>Taco Bell Corp.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u2022 <\/span><\/strong><strong>Southern Rock Restaurants,<\/strong> the largest <strong>McAlister&#8217;s Deli<\/strong> franchisee, acquired 12 stores in the greater St. Louis area, bringing its total to 63 locations.
