\u2022 CEC Entertainment<\/strong> (16)<\/strong> named Mahesh Sadarangani the new President of Peter Piper Pizza <\/strong>and Sherri Landry Chief Marketing Officer.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Church\u2019s Chicken (64) <\/strong>named Randall Lawrence VP of Supply Chain.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Coolgreens (6)<\/strong> brought in Todd Madlener as VP Operations and Amanda Powell as Director of Operations and Training.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Cornerstone Restaurant Group (8),<\/strong> operator of Michael Jordan\u2019s<\/strong> restaurants, appointed Josh Zadikoff President. He\u2019s the son of Cornerstone\u2019s founder and CEO, David Zadikoff. In other moves Danny McGowan becomes COO and Matt Goldstick is the new CFO.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Dickey\u2019s Barbecue Pit (18)<\/strong> brought in Jared Madry to serve as its VP of Construction.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Four Foods Group (12), <\/strong>a multi-brand franchisee named added President to the list of titles worn by co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer Shauna Smith.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Fuzzy\u2019s Taco Shop (20) <\/strong>welcomed David Catalano onboard as COO. Catalano arrives at Fuzzy\u2019s from Logan\u2019s Roadhouse<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u2022 KFC (55)<\/strong> CEO Roger Eaton will retire at the end of the year to be replaced by Tony Lowings, a longtime YUM! Brands <\/strong>executive.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Noodles & Co<\/strong>. (16) <\/strong>appointed Ken Kuick CFO.<\/p>\n

\u2022 McDonald\u2019s<\/strong> (260)<\/strong> Chief Restaurant Officer Doug Goare will retire at the end of the year, and the company will reorganize its international operations. Joe Erlinger becomes President of International Operated Markets (Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Russia, Spain and the UK), while Ian Borden becomes President of International Developmental Licensed Markets (much of the rest of the world). Chris Kempczinski remains President, US.<\/p>\n

\u2022 MOD Pizza (32) <\/strong>named John Maguire COO. Maguire recently exited his CEO position at Friendly\u2019s <\/strong>and Johnny Rockets.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 RAVE Restaurant Group<\/strong> reported FYE 6\/28\/18 results: Total consolidated revenue decreased 42.0% to $15.1 million, due primarily to falling sales and store closures at Pie Five<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Applebees <\/strong>lost its legal battle to take back the 160+ stores currently owned by bankrupt franchisee RMH Franchise Holdings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Bojangles\u2019 <\/strong>may be looking for a buyer.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Carrols Restaurant Group<\/strong> added 40+ Burger King<\/strong> locations, bringing its total to 848.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Charleys Philly Steaks <\/strong>opened its 600th<\/sup> worldwide location; of those, approximately 510 are located in the US.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Cracker Barrel <\/strong>is hoping the introduction of fried chicken will help reverse a Q4 decline in traffic and same store sales.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Dunkin\u2019 Donuts <\/strong>will be known as simply \u201cDunkin\u201d beginning in January when it will start to phase out the use of \u201cDonuts\u201d in its store name and branding as part of a plan to reposition the chain as a quick serve coffee company.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Mr. Gatti\u2019s Inc<\/strong>. continued to refranchise. It sold 13 corporate locations in Austin, TX.<\/p>\n

\u2022 RAVE Restaurant Group<\/strong> closed 5 Pie Five <\/strong>locations and also announced a new streamlined prototype for the concept.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Starbucks<\/strong> is planning layoffs and leadership changes in the face of struggles in recent quarters. The changes are likely to occur through mid-November.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Subway <\/strong>now offers delivery at 9,000 locations after the company partnered with four<\/em> 3rd<\/sup> party service providers, Uber Eats, Grubhub, DoorDash and Postmates.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Urban Plates <\/strong>has secured a $35 million loan from Goldman Sachs and will use the cash to expand from 15 units (CA) to 50 over the next 3 years.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Zoe’s Kitchen <\/strong>is partnering with American Airlines to offer a number of new in-flight dining options.<\/p>\n

Mergers and Acquisitions<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u2022 Elite Restaurant Group <\/strong>(Slater\u2019s 50\/50<\/strong> and Daphne\u2019s<\/strong>) acquired 17-unit Patxis Pizza<\/strong>. In another deal, the company acquired Noon Mediterranean <\/strong>out of bankruptcy. With Noon, Elite will rebrand the 12 stores with the Daphne\u2019s banners and develop a Noon\/Daphne hybrid menu for the stores.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Inspire Brands <\/strong>will buy Sonic Inc<\/strong>. for $2.3 billion.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Lyfe Kitchen <\/strong>was sold by the Carlisle Group <\/strong>to its Chicago franchisee L3 Hospitality Group<\/strong>. The three Chicago area stores are the only ones that remain open, and L3 plans on expanding from this new base.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Romano’s Macaroni Grill <\/strong>will acquire the Sullivan’s Steakhouse <\/strong>chain from Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group<\/strong> for $14 million.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Taylor Gourmet<\/strong>, a 17-unit Washington DC chain, closed all of its locations.<\/p>\n

Real Estate<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u2022 Del Frisco’s<\/strong> will open its first Double Eagle Steakhouse<\/strong> in California next month (San Diego) with a second planned (LA).<\/p>\n

\u2022 JINYA Ramen Bar <\/strong>opened its first Nebraska location in Omaha.<\/p>\n

\u2022 MOOYAH Burgers <\/strong>opened its first Rhode Island and first casino location in the Tiverton Casino Hotel.<\/p>\n

\u2022 SAJJ Mediterranean<\/strong> has three new units in development \u2013 Irvine, San Jose and San Ramon, CA.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Wendy\u2019s<\/strong> is looking at Quebec for expansion opportunities. The company opened its 13th<\/sup> location recently and plans to build to 50 by 2023.<\/p>\n
