Regional supermarket chain Harris Teeter recently reported favorable second quarter financials, where it saw sales improve by 4.3% and profits rise by 8.7%.\u00a0 Although the company stated that the numbers were assisted by the shift of some Easter holiday sales to the second quarter from the third quarter a year ago, comparable-store sales increased 3.7%<\/p>\n

In June 2012, Harris Teeter acquired 10 Lowes Foods supermarkets in the central Carolina region in exchange for six Harris Teeter locations in Western North Carolina and an additional $26.5 million. The store swap helped the company strengthen its position as the number #1 supermarket operate in the Charlotte metro core-based statistical area (CBSA).<\/p>\n
