A <st1:city w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Chicago<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>store was closed for 11 weeks for a $1 million renovation that includes a higher ceiling and more natural light<b><o:p><\/o:p><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">Heinen&#8217;s Fine Foods<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\"> plans to open a store in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Barrington<\/st1:city> <st1:state w:st=\"on\">IL<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>next summer, marking the 17-store chain&#8217;s first foray outside northeast OH. Jeff and Tom Heinen, who own the 82-year-old Cleveland-based company, said they plan to open multiple stores in the greater <st1:city w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Chicago<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> area.\u00a0 <b><o:p><\/o:p><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">Fresh Encounter, Inc.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\"> is seeking growth opportunities are sought throughout its existing markets during the next 18 months. The supermarkets occupy spaces of 9,000 sq. ft. to 36,000 sq. ft. in freestanding locations, strip centers and downtown areas.\u00a0<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">Marsh Supermarkets<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\"> plans to spend $60 million over the next three years to build up to 10 new stores and remodel others.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">Niemann Foods, Inc<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">. is seeking new store location sites throughout its current markets throughout IA, IL and MO for its <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:placetype w:st=\"on\">County<\/st1:placetype> <st1:placename w:st=\"on\">Market<\/st1:placename><\/st1:place>and Save-A-Lot formats. The supermarkets occupy spaces of 18,000 sq. ft. to 60,000 sq. ft. in freestanding locations, strip centers and downtown areas.\u00a0 <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">Schnuck Markets,<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\"> which earlier this month sold a handful of <st1:city w:st=\"on\">Memphis<\/st1:city> area stores to rival <b>Kroger Co. <\/b>again dealt with the company by acquiring seven Hilander stores in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Rockford<\/st1:city>,  <st1:state w:st=\"on\">Ill.<\/st1:state><\/st1:place> from Kroger. Schnucks said it would operate the stores under the Hilander banner, at least initially. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><i><u><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 14pt;\">Home Center\/Hardware<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/u><\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">Len-Co Lumber Corp<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">. paid $2.95 million for a 60,000-sq.-ft. property in the Town of Tonawanda, N.Y.\u00a0 Len-Co&#8217;s new location, its third, is a former Premier Wines flagship store. Len-Co operates stores in <st1:city w:st=\"on\">Buffalo<\/st1:city>and <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Williamsville<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">N.Y.<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>\u00a0 The family owned and operated pro dealer had been searching for a third location for about five years, the newspaper reported. It expects to open next spring in the <st1:city w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Tonawanda<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>location.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">Marvin&#8217;s Building Materials and Home Centers<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\"> announced plans to open a new store in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Fayetteville<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">Tenn.<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>\u00a0 The new store in <st1:city w:st=\"on\">Fayetteville<\/st1:city> is the first of at least two new stores planned for Marvin\u2019s in 2012 and the first store in <st1:state w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Tennessee<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>to take on the company&#8217;s new-store format. It will soon be under construction at the former Food Lion shopping center on <st1:street w:st=\"on\"><st1:address w:st=\"on\">Huntsville Highway<\/st1:address><\/st1:street>, Highway 431. \u00a0<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">The store, expected to open in February of 2012, will feature a 35,000 square foot home center with an attached lawn and garden center and drive through lumberyard. \u00a0<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">The store will offer a complete line of building materials, electrical, plumbing, paint, millwork, hardware, tools, and lawn and garden products.\u00a0 <st1:city w:st=\"on\">Fayetteville<\/st1:city>is the first new concept store of several the company hopes to open in the state of <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:state w:st=\"on\">Tennessee<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">The company opened two new stores in <st1:city w:st=\"on\">Monroeville<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">Ala.<\/st1:state>in May and expects to open <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Eufaula<\/st1:city>,  <st1:state w:st=\"on\">Ala.<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>, in October of 2011.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">Menards <\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">will open a new store in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Miami Township<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">Ohio<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>, after demolishing a shopping center it purchased on Aug. 24 for $5.36 million.\u00a0 The 201,000-sq.-ft. plaza, called Lyons Crossing, was anchored by Walmart before the discount merchant moved to another location. The remaining stores will be torn down to make way for the construction of a $9 million Menards store.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">Orchard Supply Hardware<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\"> opened a new store in <st1:place w:st=\"on\">South San Jose<\/st1:place>. The new unit will be the company\u2019s 89th location.\u00a0 The 60,000-sq.-ft. store is designed with a \u201cracetrack\u201d configuration and features an expanded customer-service area referred to as the \u201cWorkbench.\u201d This is where customers will go for help with lock rekeying, custom-cutting of rope, lumber, screens and other materials, pipe threading, and tool and knife sharpening. The paint section has been enlarged, and the store includes a large indoor\/outdoor nursery and garden supply area.\u00a0<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">It fills up one of the few remaining empty boxes formerly occupied by Mervyns in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:placename w:st=\"on\">Santa Clara<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st=\"on\">County<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place>.\u00a0 The San Jose-based retailer&#8217;s 60,000-square-foot store in <st1:placename w:st=\"on\">Princeton<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st=\"on\">Plaza<\/st1:placetype>, located at the corner of <st1:street w:st=\"on\"><st1:address w:st=\"on\">Meridian Avenue<\/st1:address><\/st1:street> and <st1\n\n:street w:st=\"on\"><st1:address w:st=\"on\">Blossom Hill Road<\/st1:address><\/st1:street> in South San Jose, will be one of its new-format styles unveiled in <st1:city w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Santa Rosa<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> two years ago. The space was occupied since the 1970s by Mervyns, the Hayward-based mid-range department store chain that shut down after declaring Chapter 7 bankruptcy. That store was shuttered in early 2009.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><i><u><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 14pt;\">Discount and Specialty<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/u><\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">hhgregg <\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">has announced the opening of 14 stores in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Chicago<\/st1:city><\/st1:place>. <st1:city w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Chicago<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> will be the company&#8217;s largest market.\u00a0 To support the new stores, the retailer has hired 700 residents for sales associates, warehouse staff, and customer service representatives.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">Out of the 14 stores, 13 will open in <st1:state w:st=\"on\">Illinois<\/st1:state> communities and one in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Merrilville<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">Indiana<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">Illinois: Gurnee, Vernon Hills, Geneva, Schaumburg, Lombard, Bloomingdale, Arlington Heights, Joliet, Naperville, Orland Park, Niles, Crystal Lake, and Norridge<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><st1:state w:st=\"on\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">Indiana<\/span><\/st1:state><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">: <st1:city w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Merrillville<\/st1:place><\/st1:city><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">T-Mobile USA<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\"> announced the rollout of a new global design for nearly 400 new and remodeled stores across the country. The move follows successful test pilots in Tukwila, Wash., and in New York City at Seventh Ave. and 48th St.,<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">T-Mobile said it adopted the new design format from its parent company, Deutsche Telekom AG, which has received positive customer feedback for this new design in retail stores across <st1:place w:st=\"on\">Europe<\/st1:place>. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">Each redesigned store will be completely new from floor to ceiling, and will feature a more customer-centric layout, including private customer service desks and clearly defined product areas.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">Other new design features include hardwood flooring, large digital messaging screen at the rear of the store, and vertical highlight panels installed with information kiosks and video monitors.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">Customers also will have several service options, from standing service counters on the sales floor for quick transactions to seated service desks for long transactions, discreet conversations and business-to-business consultations. Kohl&#8217;s has also renovated about 100 existing stores this year, creating about 4,000 new jobs. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">Macy&#8217;s<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\"> is consolidating from nine floors to six at its store in downtown <st1:city w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Pittsburgh<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>, with a makeover that will result in a store that&#8217;s still about twice the size of the chain&#8217;s typical suburban department stores. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">Nordstrom <\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">announced plans to open a new Nordstrom Rack in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Temecula<\/st1:city>,  <st1:state w:st=\"on\">CA<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">The 35,700-sq-ft, store is scheduled to open during spring 2012 at Commons at Temecula, a regional shopping center. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\">Ross Dress for Less<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt;\"> celebrated its initial ent<\/p>\n<p>ry into the greater <st1:city w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Chicago<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> area with the grand opening of 12 stores on Oct. 8.
