The redesigned store will reallocate space and realign departments. The shoe department will double in size and have new fixtures, and the cosmetics department will have new showcases and lighting. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt;\">Charming Shoppes Inc.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\"> is considering the sale of its Fashion Bug stores. The company is said to be devoting its resources to the more profitable plus-size women&#8217;s Lane Bryant label. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt;\">Gap Inc.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\"> recently announced plans to open two new Athleta stores in <st1:place w:st=\"on\">Southern  California<\/st1:place>. Both slated to open in fall 2011, stores are planned at the Grove shopping center in Los Angeles&#8217; Fairfax district, as well as a store at the outdoor shopping mall Fashion Island in Newport Beach, CA. Additionally, two New York Athleta stores are scheduled to open in summer 2011.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt;\">Macy&#8217;s<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\"> plans to open its first store at a discount mall in the suburbs of <st1:city w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Chicago<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> in 2013, but the department store won&#8217;t be a lower-priced outlet<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt;\">Nordstrom Inc.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/#bizWatch-infoPopup\"><\/a> <\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\">said it will close its downtown <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Indianapolis<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> store on July 31, affecting 176 employees. The retailer said its nearby full-line store at the Fashion Mall at Keystone will remain open. The company will also open a new discount Rack store in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Indianapolis<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">IN<\/st1:state><\/st1:place> in September. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><span style=\"font-family\n\n: Arial;\">Real Estate:<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt;\">Abercrombie &#038; Fitch Co.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\"> opened its first-ever French flagship store on the Avenue des Champs-Elys\u00e9es in <st1:city w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Paris<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> in May. The store measures approximately 33,000 sq. ft. Abercrombie &#038; Fitch plans to open new flagship stores in <st1:state w:st=\"on\">Madrid<\/st1:state>; <st1:city w:st=\"on\">D\u00fcsseldorf<\/st1:city>, <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\">Germany<\/st1:country-region>; <st1:city w:st=\"on\">Brussels<\/st1:city>, Belguim; <st1:city w:st=\"on\">Dublin<\/st1:city>; and <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Singapore<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> in 2011. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt;\">Aritzia LP<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\"> opened a new flagship store in <st1:state w:st=\"on\">New York<\/st1:state>\u2019s <st1:place w:st=\"on\">SoHo<\/st1:place> neighborhood. Located at 524 Broadway, the 10,000 sq. ft. space was inspired by the metaphysical world and natural phenomena. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt;\">Diane von Furstenberg<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\"> opened its second <st1:state w:st=\"on\">New York<\/st1:state> boutique at <st1:street w:st=\"on\"><st1:address w:st=\"on\">135 Wooster St.<\/st1:address><\/st1:street> in <st1:place w:st=\"on\">SoHo<\/st1:place>. The store features a new retail concept which is expected to serve as a blueprint for future DVF stores. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt;\">Frederick\u2019s of Hollywood Inc.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\"> will open its <st1:city w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Abu   Dhabi<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>, U.A.E., flagship in July 2011. The 3,500 sq. ft. flagship will open in Mushrif Mall. The store opening is part of an exclusive multiyear licensing agreement with Safeer Establishment, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi-based Emirates Associated Business Group. As part of the deal, 10 more <st1:city w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Frederick<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>\u2019s stores will open by 2014 in the Gulf Region, three of which will be in the U.A.E. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt;\">Gap Inc.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\"> plans to close 200 Gap brand stores by 2013. The company did not disclose which stores it plans to shutter. The company also will add 50 or 60 Gap outlet stores and about 40 Banana Republic Factory stores. Gap Outlet recently expanded into <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\">Canada<\/st1:country-region> and <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\">Japan<\/st1:country-region> and will soon expand to <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Italy<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt;\">Macy\u2019s Inc.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\"> has announced plans to open two new Macy\u2019s stores\u2014one each in the <st1:city w:st=\"on\">Chicago<\/st1:city> and <st1:city w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Milwaukee<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> markets. Both will be located in shopping centers that are being redeveloped by Simon Property Group. A one-level, 140,000 sq. ft. Macy\u2019s in Gurnee Mills in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Gurnee<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">Ill.<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>, will open in spring 2013. The new Macy&#8217;s store will be housed in a former <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:placename w:st=\"on\">Circuit<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st=\"on\">City<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> location. A two-level, 150,000 sq. ft. Macy\u2019s in Southridge Mall in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Greendale<\/st1:city>,  <st1:state w:st=\"on\">WI<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>, will open in spring 2012. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt;\">Nordstrom Inc.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\"> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/#bizWatch-infoPopup\"><\/a><span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0<\/span>will open its Beaverton Rack store on September 22. The store will complement the full-line Nordstrom, which is nearby at <st1:street w:st=\"on\"><st1:address w:st=\"on\">Washington Square<\/st1:address><\/st1:street>. Nordstrom Inc. announced that it will open a new Nordstrom Rack at Westfield Plaza Bonita shopping center in <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">National   City<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">CA<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>. The 42,222 sq. ft. store will open on October 27. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt;\">Old Navy<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\"> announced that it will unveil its 300<sup>th<\/sup> remodeled store in mid-July.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt;\">Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI)<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\"> announced plans to enter <st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:city w:st=\"on\">Indianapolis<\/st1:city>, <st1:state w:st=\"on\">IN<\/st1:state><\/st1:place> with the opening of a retail store in spring 2012. The approximately 23,800 sq. ft. store will be located at the Plaza at Castleton. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt;\">rue21 inc.<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\"> plans to open its 700th store at the end of June 2011. Additionally, the company\u2019s goal is to reach 1,000 stores by the end of 2014.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt;\">Saks Incorporated&#8217;s Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\"> plans to open four new stores this year &#8211; Kansas City, KS, Oklahoma City, OK, Northbrook, IL and Charleston, SC. Additionally, OFF 5TH will open a new store at the Market at Town Center in Sugar Land, TX that will replace its store located at The Fountains in Stafford, TX. The stores will range from 25,000 to 28,000 square feet and will be modeled in Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH&#8217;s innovative &#8216;luxury in a loft&#8217; store design. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt;\">Saks<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\"> is opening a <st1:street w:st=\"on\"><st1:address w:st=\"on\">Saks Fifth Avenue<\/st1:address><\/st1:street> store in <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Kazakhstan<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> next year.
