What a difference a few years make. When founders Don Newcomb, Debra Bryson and Chris Newcomb (the team that also created and later sold McAlister\u2019s Deli) sold a majority stake of fast-casual Newk\u2019s Eatery to Sterling Capital Partners in early 2014, they\u2019d grown the chain to 67 locations in 10 years. Two years later, with a pocketful of private equity cash, CEO Chris Newcomb has 109 stores open, plans for 125 locations by the end of 2016 and 200+ total units by 2018. Current areas of expansion for Newk\u2019s include greater Atlanta, Orlando and Denver, the latter of which will become the westernmost outpost for the chain.<\/p>\n
