• EG America LLC appointed Lisa N’Chonon as its new CFO and Treasurer. The retailer also named Laura Sherman as its new General Counsel.

• The Fresh Market Inc. plans to open two new locations in Washington, DC, within the next few years.

• Lidl US, LLC announced it will open a new store on July 31, in Queens County, NY.

• Meijer Inc. recently opened a new 90,000 sq. ft. Meijer Grocery store in Noblesville, IN.

• Pilot Flying J has promoted Andy Lupo to Exec VP, CTO. He assumed the role after the retirement of Mike Rodgers.

• The Raley’s Companies has promoted Mike Gabbert to Senior VP, Chief Human Resources Officer. Donna Mendes has been promoted to succeed him as Executive Director of Logistics.

• The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company LLC has identified the 32 locations that it intends to close by November.

• Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace plans to open a new 50,000 sq. ft. store in Greenvale, NY, in the first quarter of 2026.

• Whole Foods Market Inc. reported it will open a second Whole Foods Market Daily Shop location in New York City, NY, this fall.

 

Retail

• Ace Hardware Corp. recently opened its 5,000th location in the U.S.

• Burberry USA has named Joshua Schulman as its new CEO.

• Five Below Inc. announced that Joel Anderson has stepped down as President and CEO. Kenneth Bull, COO, has been named as Interim President and CEO.

• Hancock Lumber Co. Inc. has hired Dan Lauze as Project Manager Retail Operations Center.

• Nation’s Best Holdings LLC has recently acquired Huntington Lumber & Supply Co.

• Recreational Equipment Inc. has named Guillaume Ledieu as CTO. He replaces Dan Shull, who has left the company.

• Target Corporation is opening three new store locations in Lomita, CA, St. Louis, MO, and Doylestown, PA, on July 21.

• Walmart Stores Inc. has recently named Vinima Shekhar as VP of Beauty. She succeeds Creighton Kiper, who was promoted to Senior VP of Home.

 

Restaurant

• Brinker International is being sued by The Beastie Boys after Chili’s allegedly used the band’s images and one of their songs in a 2022 social media post without permission.

• California’s Fast Food Council is meeting this week and the members will be deciding how much to raise the minimum wage for fast-food restaurants in California beginning next year.

• Darden Restaurants Inc. has agreed to purchase Chuy’s in a $605 million dollar deal. The deal is expected to close in November.

• Potbelly has opened their first location inside the Pentagon. The opening is part of the company’s plans to open more locations within military installations.

• Starbucks is partnering with Mercedes-Benz to add EV car chargers at over 100 locations.

• Zaxby’s is entering the retail business by selling three of their signature sauces at southern grocery stores and through Amazon.
