• Schnuck Markets Inc. announced it plans to acquire Skogen’s Festival Foods and Hometown Grocery Inc. A new company, called 1939 Group, plans to operate Schnucks, Skogen’s Festival Foods and Hometown Grocers as separate, sister companies maintaining their existing corporate headquarters.

• ShopRite Supermarkets Inc. recently opened a new 62,000 sq. ft. location in New York City, NY.

• Wegmans Food Markets Inc. will open a new 110,000 sq. ft. grocery store in Charlotte, NC, next week.

• The ONE Group LLC announced the appointment of Nicole Thaung as CFO. She will succeed Tyler Loy, who is leaving the company.

• Snooze Eatery has promoted Brianna Borin to COO of the company. Jeremy Edmonds had been named Exec VP of People and Culture.

• John Varvatos Enterprises recently opened a new 3,200 sq. ft. store in New York City, NY.

• Lowe’s Companies Inc. will open two new locations in Texas in November.

• Macy’s Inc. reported that Maly Bernstein, CEO of Bluemercury Inc., will leave the retailer at the end of the month.
