• 7-Eleven has appointed Mauricio Leyva as Chief Executive Officer of 7-Eleven Inc., effective August 1.

• Jewel-Osco President Thomas Lofland has retired after a 35-plus-year career with Albertsons.

• Albertsons Cos. has adopted a new regional operating model that consolidates 11 divisions into four regions. Sharon McCollam, President and Chief Financial Officer, will retire later this year.

Restaurant

• Bubbakoo’s Burritos opened a new restaurant in East Windsor, NJ, on July 24.

• Press Quesadilla Grill opened its second location in Arroyo Grande, CA, on July 27.

• Zaza Cuban Comfort Food plans to open a new restaurant in Kissimmee, FL, in early 2027, marking its first location in Osceola County and 13th overall.

• Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers opened a second Broken Arrow, OK, restaurant on July 28.

• Wayback Burgers and Molte Pizze opened a co-branded restaurant in Bridgeport, CT, on July 27.

• SusieCakes will add two Dallas-Fort Worth bakeries, with one planned for Dallas’ West Village in fall 2026 and another planned for Frisco in 2027.

• Playa Bowls franchisee Gene Sherman has selected Westview Promenade for a second Frederick County, MD, location, with a third planned for Urbana.

• Wetzel’s Pretzels and Cold Stone Creamery will open a co-branded store in the Bronx at 1957 Turnbull Avenue.

Retail

• Ross Stores opened 47 new stores during June and July, including 35 Ross Dress for Less locations and 12 DD’s Discounts locations.

• Adidas will open its first full-price brand concept store in Minnesota at Mall of America in October.

• Target opened 11 new stores in July as part of its plan to open 30 stores in 2026.

• H&M will lay off 76 New York City-based corporate employees.
