Breaking News:  ALDI to Acquire Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket

ALDI Inc. is acquiring Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. and Harveys Supermarkets from Southeastern Grocers.  The transaction is part of a larger divestiture by Southeastern Grocers and includes approximately 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket locations throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi. ALDI said it plans to evaluate which Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarkets stores will be converted to the ALDI format, and the rest will continue to operate as Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarkets. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2024. Southeastern Grocers has also agreed to divest its Fresco y Mas operations, which include 28 stores and four pharmacies.

That leaves us with the questions: What will the final market share look like? Where do these stores overlap? And what happens if a location closes and where? CSG’s data experts can analyze what this means for your business. Whether you need location or historical data to make your own forecasts, or need CSG to run the stats for you, Chain Store Guide is your primary source for industry insight.
