• BJ’s Wholesale Club is preparing to open a Mesquite, Texas, club this fall, which would become its fifth Dallas-Fort Worth location as it continues its Texas expansion.
• Gus’s Community Market plans to open its first store outside San Francisco in Los Gatos, California, in spring 2027, expanding the family-owned grocer to a sixth location.

• Chicken Salad Chick appointed Drew Travis as Chief Financial Officer; he most recently served as Senior Vice President of Finance at GoTo Foods and assumed the new role in August.
• Metro Diner opened its first Lecanto, Florida, restaurant on August 17 in Citrus County, adding a 3,710-square-foot location with indoor and patio seating.
• Pei Wei Asian Kitchen opened a refreshed Boynton Beach, Florida, restaurant on August 18, relocating the brand to an updated space at 7375 Boynton Beach Boulevard.
• Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers opened a new restaurant in Philadelphia, Mississippi, on August 18, adding dine-in, patio, drive-thru and mobile-ordering service to its 580-plus-unit system.

• Men’s Wearhouse opened a new 5,443-square-foot store in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on August 19, expanding the menswear chain’s national footprint to more than 640 stores.
• Michaels debuted a next-generation store format at three locations, with redesigned departments and new personalization and service features.
• Lululemon is losing Chief AI Officer Ranju Das, whose departure was reported August 14 ahead of incoming CEO Heidi O’Neill’s September start.
• Foot Locker partnered with Nike and Crenshaw community leaders to unveil The Crenshaw Rec by Foot Locker, a new Los Angeles retail experience centered on sport, culture and community.
